If simple but beautiful is on your dream home list, then take a moment to look at our tour of the Zerbe cabin. This lovely home has a classic layout with simple clean lines and quality workmanship. You can customize it for your own needs easily, or enjoyt he layout as is for a perfect family home.

Log Cabin Features:

  • Family friendly open floor plan, including a convenient 3-car attached garage.
  • Large open decks on the main floor over the back of the home covering the walkout basement entrance.
  • Light wood stain throughout for seamless looks you can accent with any preferred accessories and furniture.
  • Open kitchen space with island bar made ideal for extra storage and a breakfast nook.
  • Formal dining room open to the rest of the main floor with sliding door leading out to deck.
  • Great room includes wall of windows, open spaces, and stone fireplace.

One of my favorite features on this home is that the back of the home features the great room as a focal point. In fact, this uses that space not just for the main floor but the basement has it's own set of windows that line up underneath the great room.

Inside the home, clean and classic are words I would use readily to describe the space. The front entry opens up with stairs to the second floor loft and basement to the left and leads right into the main living space.

Walking through that front door, you see right across the space to the wall of windows that is on the back of the home. One thing this home doesn't include are doors that go right off the great room onto the deck. Instead, the decks are actually separated by this space and can be accessed on the sides of the home.

You can see the owners have turned this into a cozy seating space by the fireplace, as well as used the space closer to the windows for more of a traditional style living area. A corner entertainment center closes doors to hide away the electronics and a cozy sectional sofa makes for a comfortable space to relax with a movie, or just to chat with friends.

From the angle below, you can see right to the front door and the kitchen on the left of the image. The dining table is there to the left of this image as well as halls leading down to the main floor bedroom and other spaces.

This image also gives you a quick look up into the second floor lofted space. While this isn't a full second floor like some homes, utilizing this extra space for seating or storage is brilliant and ideal for those with kids. It's a great close but still semi-private play space or reading nook.

I adore this dining area. Not only is it close to the kitchen and living spaces, but it has a built-in buffet against the wall that could be used as a wet bar if you desired. Just add a sink in the corner! Plus, you can see right out to the decks from these sliding glass doors. The perfect easy access point to the outside that makes weekend barbecues even easier to manage.

The corner kitchen is open and has everything you need in a cozy space. A classic L-shape allows for tons of storage cabinets above and below the counters, plus gives the open space needed to add that center island. Having an island that doubles as a breakfast nook is ideal for families who often have kids in need of a spot for snacks or a meal on the go.

One of my favorite things inside this home has to be the private home office. While you could use this as a bedroom, I love how they have set this up as a formal office workspace with a workspace against the wall and desk in front. You could easily entertain a client here in a professional atmosphere, or just use this as your work from home base that is ideal for those popular Zoom meetings.

Upstairs, the other bonus space I love is this open loft. It has a little daybed, rocking chair, and cozy reading chair, but you could add game boards, a table with chairs, or even a bunch of bean bag chairs and a television for the kids. Such a great use of this space!

The bedrooms are also beautiful in this home with wide open spaces and some even include access to the deck through private doors in the room.

Of course, you can't ignore this stunning master bathroom. A glass walled shower sits next to a soaking bathtub just under a large picture window. Dual sinks are ideal for any couple, and the easy to clean tile floors are the perfect choice against the light wood walls, ceiling, and cabinetry.
